Jason Silverstein received his Ph.D. in Anthropology at Harvard University, and is now a Lecturer and Writer-in-Residence at Harvard Medical School's Department of Global Health and Social Medicine. Currently, he is writing a book about empathy for Simon & Schuster. He has written about science and justice for The New York Times, The Atlantic, The Guardian, Slate, Esquire, and The Nation, among others. He holds a MTS in religion, ethics, and politics from Harvard Divinity School, and a BA in philosophy from Penn State. His dissertation is a study of caregiving for children with serious or life-threatening diseases at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorder Center.
